SAVIAIR 5000                    How It Works       Polluted Air is drawn in the front of the Saviair 5000 Air Cleaner. The Pre-Filter catches large particulate such as hair and lint. The finer particulate then passes through the ionizing or charging section of the Electronic Cell. All pollutants take on a positive electrical charge. The pollutants then enter the Collecting Plate section of the Electronic Cell where they attract and stick to the alternately negative and neutral collecting plates. The clean air then passes through an optional Potassium Pangamate and Carbon Blend Filter for enhanced removal of odors, gases and chemicals. On the exhaust of the Saviair 5000 there is an independently controlled Negative Ion Emitter that adds negative ions to the clean air for balanced fresh air. About Electronic Furnace Filters Electronic Air Cleaners were first designed in the early 1960's. At that time they were designed to go on furnaces. Obviously we did not have an Air Quality Crisis in the 1960s. The purpose of the furnace model was to protect the furnace from large airborne particulate flying in and damaging the motor and heating equipment etc.. There is no question that furnace models do remove some airborne particulate but they do not effectively clean your air.
