Comparative information comes directly from the Rensair website, product manuals, and specification sheets, and from MedicAir’s published specifications. The Rensair figures are for its 120 V models for the US and Canada, the Core 330 and the Core 360i (sold as the Core 560 and the Core 600i on 230 V).

*The MedicAir® Pro takes one cartridge that holds the pre-filter, HEPA, carbon, and UV-C bulb together, rated for 5,000 hours or longer. The Rensair’s HEPA filter and UV-C lamp are replaced together as a kit every 9,000 hours, a longer interval (about a year of continuous running), and its four pre-filters are checked weekly and cleaned when necessary.

†Each maker’s own published figures: airflow at the highest fan speed (MedicAir lists its 605 m³/h, and Rensair its Core i’s 360 cfm, as clean air delivery rates) and sound at the lowest (the Core i’s lowest speed is its Quiet setting).

Questions

MedicAir® Pro vs Rensair: common questions

What is an alternative to the Rensair air purifier?

The MedicAir® Pro. Like the Rensair Core and Core i, it is a portable air purifier with an H13 HEPA filter, activated carbon, and a UV-C light. It adds a PCO chamber, its UV-C light is 24 W against the Rensair’s 18 W, it runs at 28 dB on its lowest speed, and it comes with a 3-year warranty against Rensair’s 1-year limited warranty.

Does the Rensair have a UV-C light?

Yes. Rensair places an 18 W UV-C lamp in the center of its cylindrical HEPA filter, where it lights the whole filter surface. The MedicAir® Pro has a 24 W UV-C light and a PCO chamber. Both makers describe their UV-C lamps as ozone-free.

Does the MedicAir® Pro have an app and an air quality sensor?

Yes. It has an air quality sensor and an optional smartphone app, and its ReAKT mode changes the fan speed automatically when high levels of pollution are detected. A remote control is included. The Rensair Core has a particle counter, an auto mode, and a remote control. The Core i has an auto mode and sensors for particles, CO₂, and TVOC, and connects to Rensair Cloud, Rensair’s online platform.

How often do the filters need changing?

The MedicAir® Pro takes one all-in-one cartridge, rated for 5,000 hours or longer: about 9 months to a year, depending on use and environment. The Rensair’s HEPA filter and UV-C lamp are replaced together every 9,000 hours, a longer interval (about a year of continuous running), and its four pre-filters are checked weekly and cleaned when necessary.

How much does the MedicAir® Pro cost?

It depends on the space: how many units it needs, and whether a portable or a duct-mounted system suits the home better. That is what the free in-home air test is for, and it costs nothing. Businesses can call us at (519) 686-3595.
