Heating and Cooling Needs in Guelph, Ontario
Guelph homes span more than a century of construction, and heating and cooling needs vary just as widely. A limestone heritage property downtown has different ductwork, insulation, and envelope characteristics than a mid-century Exhibition Park home or a modern Westminster Woods build. HVAC equipment that performs well in one of those contexts may be undersized or oversized in another.

Common questions
Do you install furnaces in Guelph?
Yes. We install York furnaces, from the single-stage York TM9E to the modulating York YP9C, sized to your home and your ducts, not just matched to the old unit's label.
Do you install air conditioners in Guelph?
Yes. York is what we install, and whatever make is outside your home now, we remove the existing unit and install a York sized to your house. A new outdoor unit is matched to your furnace and coil, so the two work as one system instead of against each other.
Do you repair furnaces and air conditioners in Guelph?
Yes. York is what we install, but we repair and service most furnaces and air conditioners already in Southwestern Ontario homes. If yours is a make we cannot get parts for, we will tell you before we book the visit.
Who supplies natural gas in Guelph?
Enbridge Gas, which serves about 47,700 customers in the city; with Union Gas before it, it has distributed natural gas in Guelph since the 1950s. Electricity comes from Alectra Utilities: in June 2026, Guelph customers moved from the former Guelph Hydro billing system to Alectra's. Enbridge delivers the gas but doesn't sell or repair furnaces or water heaters: for repairs and maintenance, it points homeowners to an HVAC contractor.
What size furnace or heat pump does a Guelph home need?
Ontario's Building Code sets Guelph's January design temperature at −19°C, the outdoor temperature heating systems there are ordinarily designed for, and gives the city 4,270 heating degree-days a year, more than Kitchener's 4,200. Its July design temperature is 29°C, the summer condition cooling is designed for. Which size suits a house comes down to its ductwork, insulation, and windows.

We Install York Furnaces and Air Conditioners
York is the equipment we put in homes — a full range, from a straightforward single-stage furnace to fully modulating heat and variable-speed cooling. A furnace and air conditioner are one system, so we fit them as a matched pair, sized to your house rather than to whatever was there before.

Why Choose Platinum Air Care for Heating & Cooling
A housing stock ranging from limestone heritage homes to post-2000 south-end subdivisions means there is no single HVAC configuration that suits every Guelph property.
Ductwork condition, insulation, window exposure, and homeowner preferences all shape which heating or cooling equipment is right for a home, and our technicians can help you decide. That property-by-property approach is how we have worked with Ontario homeowners since 1999.
