The City of Waterloo's 2025 drinking water report names its sources as the Erb Street Reservoir with its wells, the Mannheim Well Supply, and the Mannheim Water Treatment Plant; on the Region's hardness map every part of the city is very hard. Is Waterloo’s water chlorinated or chloraminated?
Chloraminated. The Region adds ammonium sulfate at the Erb Street Reservoir, the Laurel plant, and Well W10 to convert free chlorine to chloramine, and the City’s 3,722 total chlorine samples in 2025 ranged from 0.15 to 1.87 mg/L.
