Heating and Cooling Needs in London, Ontario

Homes in London rely on heating and cooling systems year-round to maintain comfort through changing seasons. Factors such as home age, insulation, equipment condition, and usage patterns all influence how well an HVAC system performs over time.

As systems age, efficiency and reliability can decline, leading homeowners to consider repair, replacement, or upgrades based on performance and long-term comfort goals. Our technicians can help you decide on the most appropriate next step for your home.

Common questions

Who supplies natural gas in London?

Enbridge Gas, and London sits in its Union South rate zone. Electricity in the city comes from London Hydro, which the City owns and which serves over 169,000 customers; homes outside the city in Middlesex County may be on Hydro One instead. Enbridge delivers the gas but doesn't sell or repair furnaces or water heaters: for repairs and maintenance, it points homeowners to an HVAC contractor.

What size furnace or heat pump does a London home need?

Ontario's Building Code sets London's January design temperature at −18°C, the outdoor temperature heating systems here are ordinarily designed for, and its July design temperature at 30°C, the summer condition cooling is designed for. Environment Canada's 1991 to 2020 record at London's airport averages 4.5 days a year below −20°C and 11.2 days above 30°C. Which size suits a house comes down to its ductwork, insulation, and windows, so a new one is sized to your home and your ducts, not just matched to the old unit's label.

We Install York Furnaces and Air Conditioners

York is the equipment we put in homes — a full range, from a straightforward single-stage furnace to fully modulating heat and variable-speed cooling. A furnace and air conditioner are one system, so we fit them as a matched pair, sized to your house rather than to whatever was there before.
